At Café Flicker the silver screen’s open to all music videos, short films and docs or adverts up to 15 minutes long, made by local independent filmmakers. It’s a great place to meet other industry professionals, see what people are making or get feedback on your work in progress. This December is our annual Big Flick: the end of year round-up where we screen the winning film from each month and vote on the overall yearly winner!

Everyone is welcome at Café Flicker – participating filmmakers and GMAC Members can come along for free, tickets are £3 for all others. Each person will also be entitled to a free alcoholic drink on the night. Come and join us for a night of celebration of 2015’s excellent films and vote on the final winner!

We run Café Flicker every 1st Thursday of the month and the next will be on Thursday February 4th. We accept submissions on a rolling basis, so if you’d like to submit your film, complete a form and send us a DVD or digital video file as per our submission guidelines:

Our Junior Movie Club is a free monthly film night for 10-14 year olds that is programmed by young people for young people in our very own private cinema. We watch some fab films, we talk about films & we plan some more films to watch. You also get some free munchies & we book you a free taxi home if you stay in greater Glasgow. All you need to do is make your way to GMAC Film, the Junior Movie Club is on the 1st Thursday of every month at 4pm.

Have your own exclusive screening of your favourite Christmas film in our boutique 48-seat cinema, right in the heart of the Merchant City. From 23 November to 23 December, GMAC Film’s cinema room is available for Christmas hires – weekends and evening included. You choose which film you’d like to watch – whether it’s a heartwarming classic like Miracle on 34th Street, off-the-wall Finnish Santa-horror Rare Exports or Bruce Willis saving the day in Die Hard. At GMAC Film, you’ll be welcomed with festive bubbles & mince pies in your own private cinema where you can screen the film of your choice.

Price £15 per person including VAT. Minimum 15 guests.

Contact us on 0141 553 5400 or hello@gmacfilm.com to discuss the availability of your film of choice and prefered date. If you need a bit of help, we’d be happy to think along and suggest films. Please note that for Christmas bookings, a deposit of £5 per person is required to secure the hire.

At the end of the year, all monthly winners are in the chance of winning our annual ‘Big Flick’ award!

Everyone is welcome at Café Flicker – participating filmmakers and GMAC Members can come along for free, tickets are £3 for all others. We run Café Flicker every 1st Thursday of the month. November will be the last month to enter a film for 2015. If you’d like to submit your film, complete a form and send us a DVD or digital video file as per our guidelines:

Junior Movie Club November: Hotel Transylvania

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of the world’s most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – to celebrate his daughter Mavis’ 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when a human stumbles on the hotel for the first time and takes a shine to Mavis.

MAD ABOUT MOVIES ~ Autumn Animation School ~ FREE for 15 – 19 year olds living in Glasgow! 


Autumn Animation School will take place at GMAC Film and is FREE for young people to attend with refreshments provided and travel reimbursed.   

Autumn Animation School aims to provide practical skills in model making and other techniques for creating 2D and 3D animations. The course will be taught through using affordable and accessible technology to enable everyone to make their own animations. All participants will get training in different types of techniques and technologies – in return Autumn Animation School will take place over  8 x TUESDAY evening sessions October – December  and 2 x SUNDAY full day workshops in November.

Would you like to be a member of the GMAC Youth Team and be part of shaping the Mad About Movies programme, programming Movie Club and keeping the GMAC Staff up to date with what you want to do at GMAC?

To be a member you must be 15-25 and have done at least 2 activities at GMAC Film.
