Thursday 2 March 7-9pm

At Café Flicker the silver screen’s open to all forms of short film whether its a music video, drama, advert, visual art piece, no longer than 15 minutes long, made by local independent filmmakers. It’s a great place to meet a variety of filmmakers professional and amateur, see what people are making, get feedback on your work in progress and discuss any aspect of film-making. We screen up to 7 films per night and have a vote at the end of the night to select a monthly winner. At the end of the year, all monthly winners are in with a chance of winning our annual ‘Big Flick’ award! Cafe Flicker is a friendly hosted event where everyone is welcome!

We would like to extend congratulations to the joint winners of February’s Cafe Flicker – Melanie Pyne and her film ‘Identity Crisis’ and Ronnie McIntosh and his film ‘Torn’. If you didn’t make it along to February’s event, then you can catch both of these films at the Big Flick in December!

Everyone is welcome at Café Flicker – participating filmmakers and GMAC Members can come along for free, tickets are £3 for all others. We run Café Flicker every 1st Thursday of the month. FIND Forum @ GFF 2017 – Come and join the conversation !

 

When : Wed 22 Feb 2016 , 09:30 – 13:00 hrs.

Where: CCA Clubroom, 350 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3JD

 

FIND Scotland recruited 12 young, talented individuals from under represented groups and supported them to pursue a career in the Scottish screen industries through an intensive programme of training, industry placements, career guidance, and short film commissioning.

The FIND Forum will share the findings from the pilot programme and discuss how we can best enhance the diversity of Scotland’s screen industry, with representatives from the FIND team and range of industry partners.Ali Bailey from Directors UK will deliver a keynote speech and there will be screenings of the short films commissioned as part of the FIND Scotland programme. This event will close with a discussion exploring a new framework for recruitment of people from diverse backgrounds in to the screen sector in Scotland.

 

FIND Scotland is a partnership project delivered by GMAC Film, Screen Education Edinburgh and Station House Media Unit and is supported by Creative Scotland through the Screen Sector Skills Fund.

We are excited to deliver the BFI Film Academy in Glasgow in partnership with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This year we will be exploring Short Film.

If you’re interested in watching, discussing and making films and want to pursue a career in the film and television industry, then the BFI Film Academy is the place to start. Over the course of 15 weeks we will discuss film theory, make a short film and introduce you to industry professionals.

After completion you, you can apply to The National Film and Television School BFI Easter Academy which will take place in the Easter break 2017.

HOW DO I APPLY?

The BFI Film Academy will run every Saturday from November 2016 to February 2017. You must be 16 to 19 years old on the 5th of November to apply and you cannot be at University. Applications will open early September and we will be holding an OPEN DAY on the 17th of September where you can hear from our Alumni, ask questions and get some support with your application form. Would you like to be a member of the GMAC Youth Team and be part of shaping the Mad About Movies programme, programming Movie Club and keeping the GMAC Staff up to date with what you want to do at GMAC?

To be a member you must be 15-25 and have done at least 2 activities at GMAC Film.

Still interested? Get a friend from Mad About Movies to email madaboutmovies@gmacfilm.com telling us why you would be a fantastic addition to the team.

The BFI Film Academy 2015/16 is now open for applications! This year we are ‘Exploring Sound’ and will be working with our delivery partner The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) as well as a number of industry professionals in Sound Design, Composing and Screenwriting. In order to apply download the application form and the application guidelines below.

We will be holding an open evening on the 17th of September where you can hear from our Alumni and get some support in completing your application form. Please email filmacademy[at]gmacfilm.com to confirm attendance.
