We are excited to deliver the BFI Film Academy in Glasgow in partnership with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This year we will be taking you from ‘Script To Screen’.

If you’re interested in watching, discussing and making films and want to pursue a career in the film and television industry, then the BFI Film Academy is the place to start. Over the course of 12 weeks we will discuss film theory, make a short film and introduce you to industry professionals.

After completion you, you can apply to The National Film and Television School BFI Easter Academy which will take place in the Easter break 2017.

HOW DO I APPLY?

The BFI Film Academy will run every Saturday from the 27th of October 2017 to mid February 2018. You must be 16 to 19 years old on the 5th of November to apply and you cannot be at University. You can download the application form below.

FIND Forum @ GFF 2017 – Come and join the conversation !

Where: CCA Clubroom, 350 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3JD

 

FIND Scotland recruited 12 young, talented individuals from under represented groups and supported them to pursue a career in the Scottish screen industries through an intensive programme of training, industry placements, career guidance, and short film commissioning.

The FIND Forum will share the findings from the pilot programme and discuss how we can best enhance the diversity of Scotland’s screen industry, with representatives from the FIND team and range of industry partners.Ali Bailey from Directors UK will deliver a keynote speech and there will be screenings of the short films commissioned as part of the FIND Scotland programme. This event will close with a discussion exploring a new framework for recruitment of people from diverse backgrounds in to the screen sector in Scotland.

 

FIND Scotland is a partnership project delivered by GMAC Film, Screen Education Edinburgh and Station House Media Unit and is supported by Creative Scotland through the Screen Sector Skills Fund.

Junior Movie Club November: Sunshine On Leith

Two Scottish soldiers return from a tour of duty in to their hometown of Leith (Edinburgh, Scotland). We witness the trials and tribulations as we follow the love lives of both soldiers and their families as they all come to terms with a life out of the war-zone. One of our heroes proposes too early and the other doesn’t commit early enough.

Our Junior Movie Club is a free monthly film night for 10-14 year olds that is programmed by young people for young people in our very own private cinema. We watch some fab films, we talk about films & we plan some more films to watch. You also get some free munchies & we book you a free taxi home if you stay in greater Glasgow. All you need to do is make your way to GMAC Film, the Junior Movie Club is on the 1st Thursday of every month at 4pm.

GMAC Film is running its annual filmmaking Summer School for young people aged 15-19 in Glasgow’s 103 Trongate from 25TH JULY – 7th AUGUST and we will be looking for talented actors to star in this years film being shot on location on the Southside of Glasgow.

Summer School is a fantastic opportunity for young actors to hone their skills and develop as performers in the fast paced film sector and experienced actors to reconnect with indie filmmaking and pass on skills and experiences.
GMAC Films Summer School is set over two weeks with the first week being a rehearsal week at GMAC Film head quarters and week two shooting on location in Glasgow’s Southside.

This year’s film is set around a family unit and we are looking for the following characters:

– Father
– Mother
– Teenage Son (playing age 18 – 21 yrs)
– Teenage Daughter (playing age 14 – 18 yrs)

If you are applying you must be available from the 25th July – 05th August and be able to make your way to GMAC Film at 103 Trongate, G1 5HD. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.

If you are suitable for a role you will be invited to a casting and screen test day held at GMAC Film on the 12th of July.

At this stage we are interested in actors submitting:

• Name
• Address
• Headshots (photos) of themselves,
• CV with any previous acting experience (If applicable)
• Age
• Height
• A cover letter confirming that if you were selected you would be available everyday between 25TH JULY–05TH AUGUST

S. Lewis.
