GMAC Film is an open-access skills and talent development centre for independent filmmakers, young people and professionals working in film. We also deliver training, create content and hire out space from our creative hub situated in Glasgow’s city centre. GMAC Film is an ideal place for Glasgow’s film community to meet and work.
We’re based at Trongate 103 – Glasgow City Council’s flagship arts centre in the heart of the Merchant City. This former Edwardian warehouse building opened in 2009 and brings together a wide range of arts organisations under one roof.
Over 2,500 people pass through our doors each year. This includes 5 creative organisations that base themselves permanently at GMAC Film, visiting film & tv productions that hire our production offices on a temporary basis and the many groups and individuals who choose GMAC Film to host their screenings, workshops and events.
This generates income that supports the work that we do with young people and marginalised groups, and creates opportunities for collaboration by connecting young people, filmmakers and industry under one roof.
It also allows us to offer free and low cost facilities to groups and individuals who would otherwise not be able to run their events.
In this way GMAC Film’s Creative Hub supports the development of a vibrant and diverse creative sector in Glasgow. It increases access to resources and supports the development of a screen sector that better represents the diversity of the Scotland that we live in.
