We are excited to announce that we have been working with our youth team to devise a fun, month long filmmaking challenge!
Open to all, every two days you will be given a different task that will lead to the development and production of a film.
It doesn’t matter if you are brand new to filmmaking or have been doing this for years. Doesn’t matter if you use a fancy camera or your phone. This is all about using what you have and getting creative!
By the end of the month – you’ll have made a short film! These will be submitted to us and screened online soon after.
The current task can be seen to the right of this page!
Here is the full poster, which will be updated after every task is announced.
GMAC Film’s Youth Team are a group of 16-25 year olds who meet monthly to consult and advise on the development and delivery of the youth programme at GMAC Film. They also take part in training, mentoring, production, volunteering and employment through GMAC Film, giving them new skills, friends, collaborators and real life experiences. The Youth Team has been going since 2014 and recruits new members every year.
The Youth Team also designs and runs it’s own programme of events throughout the year for young people aged 15-25. So far they have held screenings, networking events, practical filmmaking workshops and quizzes. They also help out with other parts of the youth programme, including the Junior Movie Club where they get to pass on their skills and experience to other young people who are interested in film.
Youth Team events are aimed at young people aged 15 – 25. They are free to attend, with snacks and drinks provided and travel expenses covered up to £5.
Task 12 is to create a sound effect for your film! As always – you can get creative and make an effect without diving too deep into fancy software. But if you fancy that, give it a bash! Below you can watch Kieran making a laser sound from a can of juice.

We have made the decision to cancel this weeks youth team event due to the continuing spread of the corona virus. Apologies for any inconvenience caused – we think its the best way forward to prioritise the safety of the young participants and staff.
We will be following the updates closely, so please keep an eye out for when we are back running events again!
