Applications Open for Little Pictures!

GMAC Film is excited to announce Little Pictures a new micro-budget short film commissioning scheme funded by Screen Scotland for people of all ages from 16 years old and over and encourages applications from under-represented backgrounds and welcomes people who have never made a film before.

Little Pictures will encourage new filmmakers who don’t normally have the opportunity to make a film or who have not been funded to make a film before to develop their voice, take creative risks and will help to kick start and develop film talent from across Scotland.
Little Pictures is also committed to 50% of the commissions by women.

6 short films will be commissioned up to 2k cash each to make a film with the support from GMAC Film in training and each project is supported by a mentor. Little Pictures is dedicated to supporting the development of each filmmaker and their growth in further opportunities into the Scottish screen sector.

Call for submissions is now OPEN and there are two options to apply which is FREE.

You can apply by filling out a submission form along with two options to submit your film proposal idea.

Option 1. with a 3 minute audio/video recording or

Option 2. by filling out the submission form online or downloading the PDF version here.

We are looking for proposals for short films of 15 minutes or less and of all genres:

  • Fiction
  • Documentary
  • Animation
  • Experimental film

Little Pictures will be open to people of any age who are:

  • Over 16
  • Live in Scotland
  • Are not in full time education
  • Have not been funded to make a film before
    (By funded we mean that you haven’t been commissioned to make a film by a film commissioner or Broadcaster before. You can apply if you have made a self funded, crowd funded or student film)

If you are not eligible to apply, you can still sign up for a FREE membership of GMAC Film and keep up to date on other filmmaking training and opportunities.

Little Pictures is aimed at GMAC Film’s target groups:

  • Low Income/socio economically disadvantaged
  • Black, Asian, Ethnic Minority (BAME)
  • Refugee and/or Migrant background
  • Disabled/D/deaf People
  • LGBTQIA+
  • Care Experienced and Carers
  • Rurally excluded

Priority will be given to applicants from these groups.
