Wilma Smith represents GMAC Film at Odense Film Workshop, Denmark

Wilma Smith, Filmmakers Programme Manager at GMAC Film:

“It was really exciting to visit the Odense Film Workshop in Denmark which is led by Mette Bihl the President of Screen Talent Europe and to meet in person with the STE colleagues from across Europe. This was the first in person General Assembly in 2 years. We advised on STE strategies and formed working task force groups and I have joined a screenwriters task force group with updates to be continued! Our colleagues also enjoyed the Tunnocks Teacakes and Caramel Wafers.

Odense Film Festival was on at the same time and Ana Songel’s ‘I Miss Hugs’ was screened as part of the STE showcase.

Odense Film Workshop were also hosting a Talent Lab and so it was great to see them present ideas and for me to be invited to attend the Talent Lab Pitching Event which I learned a lot from and would be keen to pursue something similar at GMAC Film. Filmmakers and Producers were coached in how to pitch and then 10 projects were pitched in from of a panel. 2 projects were award 2,500 euros to make their projects.

I also enjoyed social time with the STE colleagues and a traditional Karaoke night which of course I put my name down to sing a Proclaimers favourite. My trip was completed by a whistle top tour in Copenhagen by the CEO of the Copenhagen Film Workshop, Prami Larsson and to chat about future collaborations.

All to be continued!

Wilma”
