GMAC Film have been the Glasgow delivery partner of the BFI Film Academy since 2013. The BFI Film Academy prepares 16-19-year olds to work in the film and TV industries. The course also includes a NCFE qualification in ‘Preparing to Work in The Film Industry’

The BFI Film Academy is your FIRST step into filmmaking!

BFI Film Academy offers young people passionate about film a chance to learn together, working in production teams to create a short film in an industry led environment.

During this hands-on course you will learn about film, sound, writing, pre & post production. As part of the course you will get to make a short film and gain the NCFE Level 2 qualification ‘Preparing to Work in the Film Industry’.

This 15-week course will run on Saturdays in person at our GMAC Film offices.

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Be 16 to 19 years of age when the course starts
  • Not at university
  • Resident in the UK
  • Able to commit to all of the dates.

Priority will be given to applicants from under-represented backgrounds.

This year’s BFI course will commence in September 2022 and we will be opening applications in Summer 2022.

We have put measures in place that will allow us to safely deliver this course in person. Due to this, there may be some blended learning via virtual classes.
